Yvette Onye, owner of Onye Technology and
Services is from Springfield, MA and has been in the computer field for over 17 years. She was educated at Westfield State
College and Springfield Technical Community College with a Bachelor and Associate of Science degrees in Computer Science/Data
Processing. She recently finished grad school, earning her Masters degree in Management from Cambridge College, Cambridge,
MA.
While earning her Bachelors degree, she did her internship
at Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee, working in the Contracting office assisting the Systems Administrator with the network
and designing databases for the offices. After her internship, she went to work at the Monsanto Chemical Plant in Springfield,
MA as a Computer Systems Analyst Consultant in the Shipping department managing and creating databases in Microsoft Access
and supporting the department with their computer systems.
From here she went on to work for the University of Massachusetts, Amherst as a Computer Programmer/Report Writer, programming
in Structured Query Language (SQL), building online desktop reports, handling many requests for the different schools by programming
in SQL and designing many reports using the Infomaker Report Writing Tool, later on she became the Report Writer Coordinator
of the department and was assisting the Director of Information Systems in the Development Office Systems department for almost
4 years.
Later on
she went to work for MassMutual, Springfield, MA as a Business Systems Analyst in the Retirement Services/TPA Alliance Business,
building databases, assisting the department with designing their website, modifying and designing the Crystal Reports for
their 401K reports, designed PowerPoint Presentations for the Sales area and more. She started to feel that she wanted to
spend more time with her son because he was so young and wanted him to start school early, she then realized that maybe she
could try and start her own business by doing a lot of what she had achieved in the past.
In December 2001, she
started her own business, now known as Onye Technology and Services. Yvette's goal with the business is to help individuals,
organizations and businesses to be successful. She has supported businesses and individuals with their computer setup, system
networking, trained many in various software applications and continues to design many promotional materials including flyers,
brochures, booklets, programs, posters, tickets, menus, websites and much more. She was certified at Holyoke Community College in May-2003 as a
College Reading, Developmental Education and Learning Instructor and she has trained many students on designing databases
in Access, Desktop Publishing tools, Visual Basic programming, and Database Management courses. Presently, Yvette is the Microsoft
Office Instructor at Holyoke Community College teaching in the Jump Start Certificate Program, teaching Beginning to Intermediate
Microsoft Office Tools - Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint; Teaching Basic Computer, Email setup, how to use the Internet,
and assisting the students in job placement.
In Springfield, MA, Yvette was an editor and supporter for the Unity First African American
Newswire/Onye Info section for over 3 years. Yvette, gives all her Thanks to GOD, because without him she would
not be here, she did not plan to start a business, she basically bumped into it. Yvette is glad to have had a great history
in the computer field. Her number one supporter is her husband Benny, who has been there from the beginning. She still feels
